Ilayda Cavusoglu

Hi, I’m Ilayda Cavusoglu (she/her). I’m a software developer. You can pronounce my name like “ee-LIE-dah” “chah-voosh-OH-loo”.

I’m a coder.

I live in Turkiye.

I like games computer, PlayStation or mobile, I’m not picky. My first “coding” experience actually came from gaming. Back in late primary school, my best friend and I wrote macros for a game called GunZ to simulate rapid key presses. You had to execute a series of inputs very quickly in specififc order. So you either had to be ridiculously fast with your hands or just use macros. We chose macros.

I match memories with food. If I have the most stressful day but eat a great dessert, I remember that day as an excellent one and vice versa.

I’m a software developer with experience across startups and global companies, working on both web and mobile. My background spans real-time systems, accessibility-focused applications, data visualization, and developer tooling. I’ve built everything from command and control systems handling thousands of sensor updates per second to shipping 80+ white-labeled mobile apps.

I studied Computer Engineering (B.Sc.) with a minor in Industrial Engineering.

My background is mostly in React, Node.js and Python so PHP and Laravel are new territory for me. I’m looking forward to getting up to speed. I’m also curious about how the team uses AI tools in their workflow and want to pick that up as I go. Beyond the tech, I want to get a solid understanding of the product domain and what building decarbonization looks like in practice.

For complex problems, I like to think upfront list possible solutions, collect feedback and discuss the options before diving in. If there are too many unknowns, I prefer to start with a brainstorm to get everything on the table first.

Be your debug partner. I like working through problems the same way I approach a tricky bug: lay out all the clues, try different angles, and narrow it down together. If you want someone to poke holes in your approach or just think out loud with, pull me in. And if you just need to vent, I’m a good listener too.

I can get tunnel vision when something catches my attention. I’ll want to understand every layer before moving on. If you see me spending too long on something that doesn’t need that depth, a simple “is this blocking anything?” will snap me out of it.

I’m an observer first. In new groups I tend to hang back and get a feel for how things work before jumping in. The quiet phase doesn’t last long though, once I’m comfortable, I open up plenty. In the meantime, small one-on-one conversations help me get there faster than big group settings, so don’t hesitate to reach out directly.

I’d rather hear something uncomfortable clearly than have to decode hints. Just say the thing. Share it however you want, use whichever channel you want, but don’t leave me guessing what you actually meant.
