Head of Platform
Platform = the data architecture, calculation engine, building science models, and core technical IP that powers our authority. Not the user application, not infrastructure.
The Head of Platform is responsible for the technical foundation that makes Cadence OneFive’s models accurate and dependable. We’re solving hard building science problems that require getting the physics, economics, and data right — not just shipping features fast. When we calculate what a decarbonization project will cost and accomplish, building owners and regulators need to be able to count on it. That credibility comes from technical rigor and transparency.
The Head of Platform enables:
- The Head of Product to deliver complete solutions through reliable platform capabilities
- The Head of Customer Success to build user loyalty through accurate, dependable outputs
- The Head of Revenue to establish product-market fit through defensible technical differentiation
Responsibilities
Section titled “Responsibilities”Make our models the most trusted in the market
Section titled “Make our models the most trusted in the market”- Own the accuracy and reliability of building science calculations, energy modeling, and cost estimates
- Make technical bets that compound trustworthiness over time
- Embed the team’s building science expertise as our software’s architectural foundations
- Benchmark against competition and industry developments to maintain technical edge
- Solve the hard problems where there’s no known answer—make calls, learn fast, adjust
Build the data foundation that makes everything else possible
Section titled “Build the data foundation that makes everything else possible”- Design data architecture that captures the ground truth about buildings, measures, and outcomes
- Ensure data quality, traceability, and provenance from ingestion through modeling to end-user outputs
- Build the feedback loops that let models improve as we learn from real projects
- Create the data assets that become increasingly valuable over time
Chart the technical path from here to scale
Section titled “Chart the technical path from here to scale”- Translate business vision into a multi-year technical roadmap with sequenced bets
- Identify long-term platform requirements and organize incremental delivery that compounds toward them
- Balance near-term delivery needs against architectural investments that enable future capabilities
- Make the calls on sequencing: which capabilities unlock others, which can wait
Build the platform that’s impossible to replicate
Section titled “Build the platform that’s impossible to replicate”- Develop the intellectual property that becomes our moat in construction tech
- Identify which technical capabilities create compounding advantages
- Determine what to build vs. buy with an eye toward defensibility
- Integrate complex building science concepts into scalable technical solutions
Draw top diverse talent through technical vision
Section titled “Draw top diverse talent through technical vision”When successful:
- Engineers from diverse backgrounds —gender, neurodiversity, origins, life experiences— bring different viewpoints that improve technical decisions
- Engineers solve hard problems independently
- Engineers ship code that compounds platform trust
- The team pushes each other, not waiting to be pushed
- Top diverse engineers stay because the work matters and they are accepted as people
Represent our technical authority externally
Section titled “Represent our technical authority externally”- Establish Cadence OneFive’s reputation as the technical leader in applied ML/AI and data for construction tech
- Build relationships that strengthen our platform and market position
Top 5 Competencies
Section titled “Top 5 Competencies”This role combines Manager of One competencies with:
- See the big picture and plan ahead - Translate market authority into technical bets that compound trust
