MomentumTM is the missing infrastructure for the retrofit market.

The need to ramp up climate-responsive construction is urgent and will only get more so. Climate-responsive construction means:

  1. Reducing the carbon footprint of buildings to curb climate change—urgent this decade, because emissions reductions today matter far more than reductions 5 or 10 years from now.

  2. Protecting buildings and residents from environmental hazards resulting from climate change—a growing need as local health and safety consequences affect daily life.

The buildings sector contributes significantly to carbon emissions but has been too slow to achieve the speed and scale needed to meet GHG goals. Cadence OneFive enables city-scale acceleration of existing building decarbonization.

We fill the gaps that slow down retrofits, reducing time, risk, and cost.

Time: 18-24 months to 6 weeks from planning to construction start.

Risk: Market-level infrastructure that mitigates technology adoption risks and provides transparency.

Cost: Lower transaction overhead and predictable pricing for owners and contractors.

Our platform connects the stakeholders who collaborate on retrofits:

  • Funders deploy retrofit capital across markets. We identify repeatable, bankable upgrade projects at scale and reduce performance risk.

  • Owners get quality work done cost-effectively without operational disruption. We remove friction from decarbonization upgrades.

  • Contractors expand their businesses with predictable sales pipelines. We reduce project acquisition costs and mitigate the financial risk of new technology learning curves, with special attention to minority contractors and those from economically excluded communities.

We leverage 20 years of building energy sector experience with modern data science to:

  1. Speed the journey from planning to construction by delivering the right information at the right times—compressing timelines from 18-24 months to 6 weeks so more projects get the green light.

  2. Improve market function by providing information transparency currently lacking, reducing transaction overhead for owners and contractors.

  3. Increase availability and quality of climate-responsive construction services by addressing market-level risks through network effects, enabling new contracting modes and risk mitigation.

We believe the industry has dedicated people, technology, knowhow, and money to start city-scale decarbonization of multifamily buildings. What we lack is time.

Momentum is our software platform for multifamily building decarbonization. It’s purpose-built for the complexity of affordable and market-rate multifamily retrofits, not single-family homes or Class-A office buildings.

Momentum helps building owners, contractors, and lenders plan and execute electrification projects. Users can explore retrofit scenarios, compare equipment options, estimate costs and savings, and track compliance with local emissions laws—all in one place.

Behind the scenes, Momentum runs on two core products:

Building Knowledge Base (BKB) A comprehensive database of building characteristics organized by actual buildings, not tax lots. BKB validates data through statistical consensus across multiple sources rather than trusting any single dataset—resulting in more accurate building attributes even when government data conflicts.

Calculation Service Models retrofit scenarios, energy savings, and compliance pathways—at any scale, from a single building to thousands across a portfolio. The Calculation Service runs the physics and economics of building retrofits, from electrification to carbon emissions reductions to Local Law 97 compliance forecasting, so funders, property owners and contractors can make informed decisions backed by real analysis.

We continuously test these assumptions in the market:

  • Funders fundamentally care about deal flow. They need repeatable, bankable upgrade projects at scale with reduced performance risk.

  • Owners care about getting quality work done cost-effectively in a way that enhances—rather than distracts from—core operations and asset management.

  • Contractors care about expanding their business through predictable sales pipelines without absorbing the financial risk of new technology learning curves.
